COLLEGE PARK, MD — Each week during the 2025–26 season, a Maryland student-athlete who has demonstrated excellence both on and off the field of competition is selected as the Solomon Eye Physicians & Surgeons Terp of the Week.
This week's honoree is senior Branson John of the Maryland Wrestling team.
John became the 22nd All-American in program history and the second since 2019 at the 2026 NCAA Wrestling Championships. He placed eighth at 197 pounds.
A true sophomore, John fought through the consolation bracket to reach the blood round and secure his first All-American honor with a sudden victory win in his second straight NCAA Championships appearance. After dropping his opening match, he responded with a 5–0 decision over No. 32 Blake Schaffer (Kent State), an 11–4 win over No. 2 Rocky Elam (Iowa State), and a 4–1 sudden victory decision over No. 10 Mac Stout (Pittsburgh) that clinched All-American status.
