where we are
- The Maryland Terrapins (11-13, 1-5) continue a grueling seven-game stretch as No. 12 USC comes to College Park. Maryland is coming off a tough road series at No. 1 UCLA, ranked ninth in the RPI, and a midweek clash against No. 9 Virginia, which sits fifth in the RPI. The challenge doesn't let up, as USC arrives ranked 11th in the latest RPI, adding another top-tier test to an already demanding slate.
- The Terps have accumulated 43 hits over the first four games of this stretch, with 11 going for extra bases and three of those being home runs.
Beauty of the bats
- Following two hits against Virginia, Jordan Crosland now sits at 20 hits in just March alone. His home run against the Bruins on Saturday was his fourth of the month and sixth on the season. He ranks second for batting average and OPS on the team hitting .324 and 1.041, respectively.
- After a five-hit weekend with one home run, Aden Hill holds a .323 batting average over his last 10 games with four doubles and three home runs since March 7.
- Paul Jones II is on a six-game hit streak, three of those being multi-hit games. He totals 24 hits on the season and is one of seven Terps to have 20+ hits this year.
- Jackson Sirois, who earned the start at third base on Tuesday, recorded two hits and one RBI vs. his former team.
crushing coz
- Ryan Costello's stardom stands out when he is up to bat. He currently sits at 27 hits, 15 XBH and 19 walks on the season.
- He clobbered the ball on Sunday for his 10th home run of the season. He is the first Terp to reach double digits and leads all freshmen in the nation.
- Costello has tallied a team high 62 total bases throughout the season to contribute to his 1.133 OPS. He also leads the team in RBI with 32.
Marvelous martin
- After his two-hit performance against Virginia, Brayden Martin moved his on base streak to an impressive 54 games.
- Through his 24 games this season, Martin has recorded 35 hits and a .365 batting average, both leading the team.
- His eye plays a crucial role in his game too. He has worked 21 walks on the season the most on the team and ranks him third in the Big Ten.
