Women's Lacrosse

LaPointe Scores Seven in No. 3 Terps’ 15-12 Win over No. 8 Johns Hopkins

LaPointe’s career day lifted Maryland to 11-0 for the first time since 2019.

Box Score BALTIMORE, MD — Lauren LaPointe and Kristen Shanahan combined for 11 goals in No. 3 Maryland's 15-12 win over Johns Hopkins on Thursday afternoon. LaPointe's career-high seven goals — and 10 points on the day — propelled the Terps to their first 11-0 start since 2019 and their ninth 3-0 Big Ten start since joining the conference in 2015.

LaPointe's career-high 10 points led the charge for Maryland against the Blue Jays. She tallied seven goals and three assists in the dominant win to become the first Terp since Libby May in 2022 to score seven goals in a game. Her 10 points tied for the seventh-highest total in program history. Shanahan also logged a huge day with four goals while Kori Edmondson scored a pair. Maryland was outshot in Thursday's clash, but 13 key saves from JJ Suriano ensured the Terps held on in Baltimore. The Terps' offense got started early, as it's done so often in 2026. Shanahan opened the four-goal quarter before Keeley Block and LaPointe scored 26 seconds apart and Edmondson netted her first of the day. Maryland never trailed Johns Hopkins as the Terps moved to 28-0 all-time against the Blue Jays.

LaPointe secured her hat trick early in the second quarter during a 6-0 Maryland run that put the Terps up 7-1 in the first half. Edmondson and Shanahan both added goals in the frame. LaPointe fired off four goals and added three first-half assists as the Terps took a 10-5 lead into the half.  Maryland kept its foot on the gas with a five-goal third quarter, with each goal coming from either LaPointe or Shanahan. Kayla Gilmore dominated in the X as she secured seven draw controls. The Terps return to College Park to face No. 21 Penn State on Mar. 26.
