Terps Fall 3-0 to Wisconsin

Keira Bucher only allowed one earned run in her complete-game effort.

MADISON, WI — Keira Bucher made a strong start for the Terps in the circle, but Maryland struggled to get the bats going in a 3-0 loss to Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon. The Terps dropped to 13-19 (1-10 Big Ten) on the season, but get another crack at the Badgers on Sunday at 1 PM.

Bucher did her part in the circle in her second start of the season. She limited Wisconsin to three runs (only one of which was earned) on six hits across her six innings of work as she stranded nine Badgers on base to keep the Terps in Saturday's contest.  All six of Maryland's hits came from different Terps on Saturday afternoon, but only one came with a runner on base as Maryland struggled to push runs across. Wisconsin used two pitchers to combine for seven shutout innings and move the Badgers to 18-11 (4-4 Big Ten) on the season. How it Happened:
  • T1: Sammi Woods reached on a bunt single for the first hit of the day before Mariah Penta's double put the two in scoring position.
  • B1: Wisconsin used three free passes and an RBI single to claim a 1-0 lead.
  • B2: Maryland rolled a double play as Bucher faced the minimum.
  • B3: Wisconsin used another RBI single to double its lead.
  • T4: Anna McGowan singled up the middle for a one-out knock.
  • T5: Jaylee Williams led off the frame with a single.
  • T6: Bailey Murphy led the inning off with a single.
  • B6: Wisconsin took a 3-0 lead on a throwing error.
  • T7: Zayda Rocke opened the inning with a leadoff single.
