Offensive Onslaught Powers Maryland to 19-4 Midweek Win Over Richmond

The Terps collected 17 hits as six different players drove in multiple runs in Tuesday’s victory.

COLLEGE PARK, MD — Maryland scored in each of the first six innings of Tuesday's ball game en route to a 19-4 midweek win over Richmond at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium. Jackson Sirois homered twice as one of six Terps with multiple RBIs as Maryland moved to 13-15 on the season. Richmond's starting arm didn't escape the first inning as eight Terps came up to bat in the home half of the frame. Maryland utilized an error and back-to-back sacrifice-flies from Paul Jones II and Rylen Stockton to plate three before Sirois sent a two-run homer out to left-center field to give his Terps a 5-1 first-inning lead.  Maryland loaded the bases before an out was recorded in the second, prompting another pitching change and giving way to a Jones II three-run homer as the lead ballooned to 8-3. Jones II finished the day with a team-high five RBIs. Four straight RBI singles from Jordan Crosland, Ty Kaunas, Jones II, and Stockton highlighted a six-run fourth inning from the Maryland bats that broke open a 15-4 lead. Brayden Martin logged his second four-hit game this season as he came up to bat in each of the first six innings of Tuesday's contest. Kaunas drove in three during his two-hit day and Devin Russell roped his second homer of the season.
