Maryland Beats Delaware 7-3 for Fifth Straight Win
3/4/2026 4:00:00 PM | Baseball
Ryan Costello reached base five times in the Terps’ midweek victory.
Maryland pushed two early runs across in the top of the first without recording a hit. The Terps took advantage of four free passes issued by Delaware arms before Paul Jones II plated a run with a sacrifice-fly, giving Maryland a lead that would hold until the third frame, when the Blue Hens drove in three with a bases-loaded triple.Have a day, Ryan Costello 👏

The Terps quickly reclaimed the lead, courtesy of a two-RBI single from David Mendez. His knock was just Maryland's second hit of the day, but 10 free passes issued by Delaware pitchers through the first four innings aided the Terps in taking a 5-3 lead.
Costello's team-leading seventh blast of the season — a solo shot to deep right field — extended Maryland's advantage to 6-3 in the seventh. Jordan Crosland brought Costello home again with a sac-fly in the eighth to put the finishing touches on Wednesday's win.Terps jump back out in front off a 2-run single from @davidmendezz_ ‼️#DirtyTerps pic.twitter.com/Ny6GYjgMtV

After Delaware's three-run third, the Terps' pitching staff kept the Blue Hens from scoring as Landon Edwards, Andrew Koshy, Ryan Bailey, Jayson Torres, and Cristofer Cespedes recorded scoreless outings to earn Maryland its second win of the season over Delaware.
