No. 3 Terps Move to 6-0 With Dominant 16-9 Win Over Hofstra

Lauren LaPointe and Kori Edmondson combined for eight goals and six assists as Maryland marked its best start to a season since 2022.

HEMPSTEAD, NY — No. 3 Maryland took care of business on the road, defeating Hofstra 16-9 to move to 6-0 on the season to mark the Terps' best start since 2022. Lauren LaPointe tallied a career-high eight points with four goals and four assists while Kori Edmondson netted her second straight four-goal game as the Terps moved to 4-0 on the road in 2026. It took Maryland 22 seconds to get the scoring started on Wednesday. LaPointe found the back of the net for the 16th time in 2026, sparking a four-goal quarter that saw the Terps build a 4-1 lead. Kori Edmondson netted her first goal of the day before Jordyn Lipkin and Shelby Sullivan helped extend the early advantage. Maryland went on a 6-0 run across the first and second quarters to put the game out of question early. LaPointe sealed her hat trick early in her three-goal second quarter while Lexi Dupcak, Edmondson, and Keeley Block added goals to give Maryland a 10-5 advantage at the break.  Maryland stayed ahead for the entirety of the second half as a blend of familiar and new faces added to the lead. A trio of Terps — Sullivan, Devin Livingston, and Sawyer Scarola — scored their first goals of the season in the dominant win. They were three of eight different players to score on Wednesday while six Terps logged multi-point games.   How it Happened:
1st Quarter:
  • LaPointe scored 22 seconds into the game, putting Maryland up 1-0.
  • Hofstra found the equalizer less than three minutes into the game.
  • JJ Suriano made her first save early in the frame.
  • Edmondson scored to put the Terps up 2-1 with 9:27 to play. 
  • Lipkin's seventh goal of the season opened a 3-1 lead. 
  • Sullivan's first goal of the season made it 4-1 with 4:21 left in the quarter. 
  • Maryland led 4-1 after 15 minutes of action.
2nd Quarter.
  • LaPointe got the scoring started with her second goal of the game.
  • LaPointe sealed her hat trick 74 seconds later.
  • Dupcak used her seventh goal of the year to put Maryland ahead 7-1.
  • Hofstra scored three straight to cut into the Terps' lead.
  • Edmondson's second of the day put the momentum back on Maryland's side as the Terps went up 8-4.
  • Block scored with 2:03 left as the Terps added on.
  • LaPointe netted her fourth of the first half in the final minutes.
  • Maryland led 10-5 at the break.
3rd Quarter:
  • Edmondson's third goal of the day sealed her hat trick and opened the scoring in the second half. 
  • Block's second of the day put the Terps ahead 12-5 with 9:31 to play. 
  • Livingston's first goal of the season added on midway through the quarter. 
  • Maryland led 13-6 heading into the final 15 minutes.
4th Quarter:
  • Dupcak's second goal of the day got the scoring started in the final quarter.
  • Edmondson's fourth of the day put Maryland ahead 15-6.
  • Scarola's first-career goal gave the Terps a 10-goal lead with just over 10 minutes to play.
  • Hofstra crept closer with a trio of goals midway through the frame. 
  • Maryland closed out the 16-9 win.
Multi-Point Terps:
  • LaPointe (four goals, four assists) tallied a career-high four points, marking her 17th-career multi-point game, her 16th-career multi-goal game, and her fifth-career multi-assist game. She's scored in each of her last 13 games.
  • Edmondson (four goals, two assists) earned her 12th four-goal game of her career, her 35th-career hat trick, her 48th-career multi-point game, and her 46th multi-goal game. She's scored in 30 straight games.
  • Block (two goals, one assist) marked her 31st-career multi-point game and her 32nd multi-goal game of her career. 
  • Dupcak (two goals) earned her second-career multi-goal and multi-point games.
  • Lipkin (one goals, two assist) tallied multiple points for the 31st time in her career, and had multiple assists for the fifth-time. 
  • Kristen Shanahan (two assists) logged her 26th-career multi-point game and her ninth-career multi-assist game.
Dominating Hofstra:
  • Wednesday marked the 10th all-time meeting between Maryland and Hofstra, with each battle coming in the Reese era.
  • The Terps are a perfect 10-0 against the Pride, including a 6-0 record away from College Park.
