COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Maryland opens the Big Ten Tournament on Tuesday as the 17th-seeded Terps face No. 16 seed Oregon at the United Center. The game will tip at 5:00 PM ET (4:00 PM CT) and will be streamed on Peacock. Legendary Voice of the Terps

Oregon holds a 2-0 edge in the series with wins last season in Eugene and this January in College Park. This will mark the first time the teams have met at a neutral location and the first Big Ten Tournament meeting.
Solomon Washington led Maryland in the earlier meeting this year with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Maryland is 6-10 all-time in the Big Ten Tournament. The Terps are 1-0 all-time in the first round and 2-4 in the second.
The Terps were the No. 2 seed last season and reached the semifinals against Michigan.

- Andre Mills has been on a tear of late averaging 21.4 points in the last eight games thanks to 47.6 percent shooting from the floor and 41.0 percent from beyond the arc (25-of-61). In the last 13 games, the redshirt freshman has averaged a team-best 17.9 points per game shooting 47.9 percent (80-of-167) overall and 41.5 percent (32-of-82) from deep. That stretch was highlighted by his career-high 39 points at Northwestern and 30 points against No. 11 Illinois.
- Mills' 39 points tied as the most by a Maryland freshman since Diamond Stone scored 39 against Penn State in 2015 (which is the most by any Terp freshman) and was just the fourth time a Terp freshman has surpassed 30 points in a game since 1994. Mills scored over half of Maryland's points at Northwestern and tied for 10th-most in a game by any Terp in program history.
- He was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week with his 39 point game at Northwestern followed by a 21-point outing in the win over Washington where he scored all seven of Maryland's points in the final moments.
- Against Illinois, he became just the second Maryland freshman, alongside Joe Smith in 1993-94, to have a pair of 30-point games in their rookie campaigns.
- Mills and Illinois' Keaton Wagler are the only two Big Ten freshmen this year to have multiple 30-point games.
Since Feb. 11, Mills is the second leading scorer in the Big Ten behind just Bruce Thornton of Ohio State who has averaged 22.6 points per game in that stretch.
Diggy, Diggy, Diggy Can't You See ...
- Diggy Coit has proven to be a walking bucket or as head coach Buzz Williams has said - "put up videogame numbers." Twice this season, he has scored 40-or-more points including a career-high and XFINITY Center all-time record 43 points against Penn State. That total was just one shy of matching Ernie Graham's 44 points against NC State in 1978 as the program's single-game scoring record.
- Coit also scored 41 against Mount St. Mary's this season. He is only the second player in program history to score 40-or-more points in a season alongside Gene Shue (1952-53).
- As part of his 43 points against Penn State, Coit also tied the program and XFINITY Center records for single-game three pointers (alongside Mike Jones vs. UMKC, 12/13/06). His 15 three-point field goal attempts against Penn State tied Maryland's single-game record alongside Greivis Vasquez who was in attendance.
- Among active NCAA players, Coit is just the third to have multiple 40-point games joining Treysen Eaglestaff (2) of North Dakota and Dior Johnson (2) of Tarleton State. He is the only Big Ten player to have multiple 40-point games.
- Since 1996-97, he is one of 14 major conference players to have multiple 40 point games in a single season and the first since 2019-20.
- Coit is the first Big Ten player since Purdue's Carsen Edwards (3 in 2018-19) with multiple 40-point games in a season.
Solo Making An Impact
- After missing the first eight games of the season due to injury, Solomon Washington has given a veteran presence to the line-up since his return at the start of December. The senior is averaging 10.0 points and 9.2 rebounds in his 23 games played.
- Washington made his Maryland debut on Dec. 2 against Wagner where he had 10 points and six rebounds.
- He had his first double-double as a Terp with 13 points and a career-high 13 rebounds against Old Dominion. That marked the second straight game he had double-figure rebounds (12 vs. Virginia).
- Washington produced three-straight double-doubles in the games against Rutgers, Northwestern, and Washington with 11 points and 14 rebounds in each.
- Washington is looking to average a double-double for a season for the 23rd time in program history dating back to 1954-55.
