COLLEGE PARK, MD — Maryland women's lacrosse standouts Kori Edmondson and Maddy Sterling were selected in the 2026 Inaugural WLL College Draft on Wednesday night.
Edmondson was chosen fourth overall in the first round by the New York Charging. She will conclude her career in College Park as one of the most decorated players in program history. The No. 1 recruit in the 2022 class, Edmondson opted to stay home and has developed into one of the premier players to wear the Maryland uniform. She currently ranks 29th all-time in program history with 204 career points.
During her senior season, Edmondson has been a key contributor across the field, ranking third on the team with 46 points on 36 goals and 10 assists, while also sitting second with 53 draw controls.
She has earned Preseason All-Big Ten Player to Watch honors, was named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List, and has been selected as Big Ten Midfielder of the Week twice this season.
As a junior, Edmondson was named Big Ten Midfielder of the Year and was a Tewaaraton Top 25 finalist in 2025. She earned unanimous All-Big Ten First Team honors after leading the Terrapins' offense with 73 points, including 59 goals, and was a five-time Big Ten Midfielder of the Week selection. She also garnered All-America honors from USA Lacrosse, the IWLCA, and Inside Lacrosse, in addition to Midseason First Team All-America recognition from Inside Lacrosse and a selection to the All-Big Ten Tournament Team.
Sterling was selected in the third round with the 11th overall pick by the Maryland Charm. A cornerstone of Maryland's defense, Sterling has consistently matched up against and neutralized some of the nation's top offensive players. She has started every game over the past two seasons, totaling 36 caused turnovers and 46 ground balls.
Sterling joins a Maryland Charm roster that already features six former Terrapins: Alex Aust Holman ('13), Aurora Cordingley ('22), Erica Evans ('19), Grace Griffin ('22), Abby Bosco ('23), and Meg Douty ('15).
The New York Charging will open their season on May 16 at 5:30 p.m. in Rhode Island against the Boston Guard. The Maryland Charm will officially kick off their season in Baltimore on Friday, May 29, at 8:30 p.m against the California Palms.
Maryland travels to Ann Arbor on Thursday to face No. 11 Michigan in a rematch of last year's Big Ten semifinals. The Wolverines enter the matchup at 10–4 and will host the Terps with an 8 p.m. opening draw on Big Ten Network. Maryland then heads to Columbus for a Saturday showdown against Ohio State, with first draw set for 4 p.m., also on Big Ten Network.
