Maryland looks to even the series against Iowa right away in the second game of the Big Ten weekend.
David Mendez continued his hot stretch with a two-RBI single in the top of the first inning that pushed his hitting streak to 12 games and logged his 17th hit over that span. Mendez ranks third on the team in hits and gave his Terps an early 2-0 lead.
The Hawkeyes plated six in the bottom of the third inning on two homers and a double as they took their first lead of the weekend series. Nate Hawton-Henley's second homer of his career brought Maryland within two runs as he cleared the fence in the top of the fifth frame. The game went into a weather delay shortly after and was suspended until Saturday afternoon.
Once the game picked up, Iowa used a seven-run seventh inning to seal its 20th win of the season and move to 6-10 in conference play.
