Delaware Strikes Late In 2-0 Win Over Maryland

The Blue Hens outlasted the Terps in Tuesday's pitchers’ duel.

NEWARK, DE — An old-fashioned pitchers' duel broke out on Tuesday night, but Delaware stole home in the bottom of the sixth and used a timely single to claim a 2-0 win over Maryland and drop the Terps to 17-28 on the season.

Elisea Wiegand got the start in the circle for the Terps and navigated around early trouble. She left the bases loaded with Blue Hens in her lone inning of work before turning the pitching duties over to Keira Bucher, who went the rest of the way.

Bucher collected five strikeouts and worked around four walks on a night where Delaware stranded 10 runners on base. The Terps collected four hits, but the Blue Hens improved to 27-19 in 2026.

How It Happened:
  • B1: Wiegand stranded the bases loaded in a scoreless first frame.
  • T2: Anna McGowan legged out an infield single for the Terps's first hit.
