ANN ARBOR, MI — Keeley Block played the hero role in No. 4 (No. 2 seed) Maryland's 15-14 overtime win over No. 5 (No. 3 seed) Johns Hopkins in Friday's thrilling Big Ten Tournament semifinal game. A classic back-and-forth affair saw the Terps earn a spot in their ninth Big Ten Tournament Championship Game in program history on Sunday at 12 PM.

Maryland (16-2, 6-2 Big Ten) got multi-point games from five different Terps to stay unbeaten all-time against the Blue Jays. Block, Kori Edmondson and Lauren LaPointe all recorded hat tricks as Maryland found off a Johns Hopkins rally.

Four different Terps scored multiple goals in Maryland's 10-goal first half as Kristen Shanahan, Block, Jordyn Lipkin, and LaPointe all found the back of the net twice. Maryland outscored Johns Hopkins 7-1 in the second quarter as the Terps matched their highest single-quarter goal total of the season.

All 14 of Maryland's first-half shots were on net, and the Terps scored the final five goals of the first half — including seven of the final eight — to take a 10-5 lead into the break. JJ Suriano and the Maryland defense held the Blue Jays to one goal in the second quarter as the Terps' lead grew.

Johns Hopkins railed in the second half with a 7-1 run that included six goals in the third quarter, but Edmondson scored two of her three goals in the second half to keep her Terps in the contest. Block gave Maryland the overtime winner with her third goal in the tense victory.

Johns Hopkins got five goals from Lacey Downey and three from Ava Angello and Paige Willard, but fell to 14-4 (6-2 Big Ten) on the season. Maryland advances to play for its fifth Big Ten Tournament Championship on Sunday at 12 PM against top-ranked Northwestern.

How It Happened:
1st Quarter:

Shanahan's 36th goal of 2026 opened the scoring in the sixth minute.
Johns Hopkins evened the game a few moments later.
Block found the back of the net for the 31st time to give Maryland a 2-1 lead.
Lipkin's 21st of the year extended the lead with six minutes to play.
The Blue Jays used three straight goals from Downey to take their first lead.
Johns Hopkins led 4-3 after 15 minutes of action.

2nd Quarter:

LaPointe's 56th goal of the year opened the scoring.
Shanahan put the Terps back in front with her second goal of the day.
Downey's fourth goal of the first half tied the game at 5-5 five minutes into the frame.
Block's second goal of the game built a 6-5 Maryland advantage.
Edmonson's 40th goal of the season gave the Terps a two-goal lead with 5:34 to play.
LaPointe extended the scoring run with her second goal of the opening half.
Lipkin's second of the day gave the Terps a 9-5 lead in the closing seconds.
Emma Abbazia's sixth goal of the season created a five-goal lead.
Maryland led 10-5 at the half.

3rd Quarter:

Johns Hopkins opened the scoring before Maisy Clevenger scored her fifth goal of the season.
Back-to-back Blue Jays goals made it a three-goal game midway through the quarter.
Edmondson scored her second of the day on a free position shot.
Downey scored her fifth goal of the game with 4:31 left in the quarter.
Johns Hopkins made it a two-goal game with its 10th goal late in the frame.
The Blue Jays scored in the final minute to make it a one-goal game.
Maryland took a 12-11 lead into the final 15 minutes.

4th Quarter:

Johns Hopkins opened the scoring in the fourth quarter to tie the game.
The Blue Jays' 13th goal gave them their first lead since the opening quarter.
Edmondson sealed her hat trick to tie the game back up with eight minutes to play.
LaPointe's third goal of the day gave Maryland a 14-13 lead with 4:50 to go.
Johns Hopkins quickly tied the game back up.
The teams took a 14-14 tie into overtime.

Blocks' third goal of the day sent Maryland on to the Big Ten Tournament Championship Game.

Edmondson (three goals, one assist) logged her 41st-career hat trick, 56th multi-goal game, and 58th multi-point game.
LaPointe (three goals, one assist) recorded her 27th multi-point game of her career and her 25th with multiple goals.
Lipkin (two goals, three assists) logged her 40th game with multiple points, her 30th with multiple goals, and her ninth with multiple assists.
Shanahan (two goals, two assists) recorded her 38th multi-point game of her career, her 27th with multiple goals, and her 15th with multiple assists.

Maryland is now 17-6 all-time in the Big Ten Tournament and has made the championship game in every season except for 2015 and 2024 (excluding 2020, where the Big Ten Tournament was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
The Terps have four Big Ten Tournament championships, winning three straight from 2016-18 and in 2022.
Maryland has won 15 conference tournament championships in program history, with 10 of them coming since Cathy Reese took over the program in 2007 (six ACC Tournament titles, four Big Ten Tournament titles). Maryland took home six straight ACC Tournament titles from 2009-14.
