Maryland Baseball Travels To Georgetown For Tuesday DMV Clash

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The Maryland Terrapins (21-23) return to the DMV for a midweek matchup at the Georgetown Hoyas (22-22). Tuesday's matchup will be the 93rd time these teams face off; the Terps won handily 16-3 on February 17 when the two met earlier in the season. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. and fans can watch live on MuscoVision or listen on the Maryland Baseball Network.

  • The Terps moved to 6-15 in conference play and 21-23 overall after picking up a Friday night win against the Michigan State Spartans in East Lansing.
  • Maryland has accumulated 150 runs over the month of April and 58 over the last five games. 
  • Friday's game was the second game in 20 days where the Terps hit five home runs in a single game. The first coming against Ohio State on April 4.

  • Jordan Crosland blasted the ball over the fencer on Friday to become the second Terp to reach 10+ home runs this season. He now has 17 XBH this season along with 38 RBI.
  • Freshman Bud Coombs crushed his fourth home run of the season during Friday's win. He has nine XBH and is hitting .370 with a 1.239 OPS through his 18 games played this season.
  • Devin Russell joined the home run party on Friday for his fourth of the season and third of the month. He is now up to 12 RBI and seven hits in his past seven games played. 
  • Ryan Costello had three hits over the weekend including one for extra bases. He now sits at 23 XBH and leads all freshmen in the nation with 14 home runs. His 91 total bases leads the team.

  • Brayden Martin has been awesome in 2026 with a .360 batting average, .487 on-base percentage, 46 runs scored, and 63 hits through 44 games in 2026.
  • Martin, who wears 42 on the back of his jersey, worked his 42nd walk of the season which ranks first in the Big Ten and 13th in the nation.
  • The junior is currently riding a 74-game on-base streak dating back to 3/28/25 vs. Northwestern and set a new program record with a 44-game on-base streak to open the 2026 season.
  • One area where Martin has leveled up his game is on the basepaths. Martin is 17/20 on steals this season after recording six in both 2024 and 2025. The 17 steals ranks second in the Big Ten.

  • Shortstop Ty Kaunas has impressed in his freshman season so far. He had five hits over the weekend including his fifth home run to put him at 20 XBH this season. He has the third most hits on the team with 53.
  • Kaunas' 14 doubles leads all Big Ten freshmen and sits fifth overall in the conference. 
  • Kaunas, who is the only player to start every game at the same position, shortstop, has made some incredible plays on defense. He has helped turn 20 double plays from the 6.

  • After five hits over the weekend, Mendez extended his 18-game hitting streak that began on Mar. 27 vs. USC. In that span, he is hitting .414 with a .506 OBP and 1.163 OPS. 

  • Mendez has caught fire in Big Ten play, leading the team with a .378 batting average.
  • He has hit for a .318 average throughout this season and has racked up 54 hits, 18 XBH and 87 total bases this season. All three ranking in the top three on the team.
  • On Friday, Mendez tallied six RBI. That marks a new single-game high by a Terp this season. He now sits on 37 RBI this season.
  • Like his middle infield partner, Ty Kaunas, Mendez has impressed on defense. He leads the team in double plays and assists with 25 and 115, respectively.
