Morlang’s Gem Lifts Terps to 11-0 Win Over UMBC

Jordan Crosland and Rylen Stockton both homered in the Terps’ Tuesday victory.

BALTIMORE, MD — Nic Morlang was tremendous in Maryland's 11-0 win over UMBC on Tuesday afternoon. The freshman threw six shutout frames as the Terps moved to 14-18 in 2026.

Jordan Crosland's eighth homer of the season — and second in his past three games — highlighted the Terps' four-run second inning. His three-run shot followed an RBI infield single from David Mendez, who plated Jackson Sirois, as Maryland gave Morlang a lead to protect. The freshman spun a gem in his midweek start, throwing a career-high 6.0 innings and allowing just five hits across his 96 pitches. Morlang held UMBC hitless until the third inning and worked clean second and fourth innings in his stellar outing.  Rylen Stockon smacked his sixth homer of the year in the third inning to plate two and extend the lead. Maryland tallied seven runs on seven hits across the first three frames of Tuesday's midweek. Brayden Martin drew a trio of walks in the win to push his on-base streak to 61 straight games. He's reached safely in every game this season, tying the longest streak to start a season in program history. His three walks moved him into third in program history with 119 in his career.

Maryland put the final touches on the win with a three-run seventh inning that featured RBI doubles from Ryan Costello and Ty Kaunas. The Terps won their first of five games this week. Maryland is back in action on the road on Wednesday against Navy at 3 PM.
