
Five Terps Receive Inside Lacrosse Women’s All-American Honors

College Park, MD -- Five members of the No. 3 Maryland women's lacrosse team earned Inside Lacrosse All-American honors, the organization announced Friday. Honorees included Kori Edmondson, Lauren LaPointe, JJ Suriano, Kayla Gilmore, and Maddy Sterling.
Suriano earned First Team honors, while Edmondson and LaPointe were named to the Second Team. Gilmore earned Third Team honors, and Sterling received Honorable Mention recognition.
Edmondson earned Inside Lacrosse All-American honors for the second consecutive season. She also received First Team All-American honors from USA Lacrosse for the second straight year and unanimous All-Big Ten First Team recognition for a second consecutive season. The senior has made an impact across the field, ranking third on the team with 61 points on 48 goals and 13 assists while placing second with 72 draw controls. Edmondson was named a Tewaaraton Top 25 finalist and earned a spot on the Big Ten All-Tournament Team. She was selected fourth overall in the first round of the professional draft by the New York Charging. Edmondson will conclude her career in College Park as one of the most decorated players in program history. The No. 1 recruit in the 2022 class, she chose to stay home and developed into one of the premier players to wear a Maryland uniform. She currently ranks 26th in program history with 219 career points.
Suriano earned Inside Lacrosse All-American honors for the second straight year after receiving Honorable Mention recognition last season. The junior turned in an impressive campaign, earning Big Ten Goaltender of the Year honors and becoming the seventh Terrapin to win the award since Maryland joined the conference. She currently leads the Big Ten in saves per game (10.29), total saves (216), and save percentage (.517), while ranking first nationally in total saves. Suriano also earned All-Big Ten First Team honors and was named a Tewaaraton Top 25 finalist.
LaPointe earned Inside Lacrosse All-American honors for the first time in her career. She also received Third Team USA Lacrosse All-American recognition for the first time. The junior earned unanimous All-Big Ten First Team honors after an outstanding season leading Maryland's offense. She leads the team with 89 points and 64 goals, doubling her goal total from last season. LaPointe was named both IWLCA and Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week and earned Midseason All-America honors from Inside Lacrosse. Against No. 7 Johns Hopkins, she delivered a career-best performance with seven goals and 10 points in a 15–12 road victory. She has recorded at least four points in 15 of Maryland's 20 games this season.
Sterling earned Inside Lacrosse All-American honors for the first time in her career. She also received IWLCA Mid-Atlantic First Team honors and USA Lacrosse All-American Honorable Mention recognition for the first time. A cornerstone of Maryland's defense, Sterling leads the team with 16 caused turnovers and ranks second with 24 ground balls. She has consistently matched up against and limited some of the nation's top offensive players. Sterling earned All-Big Ten First Team honors and was named to the Big Ten All-Tournament Team. In the Big Ten Championship game against Northwestern, Sterling held conference-leading scorer Madison Taylor to just one goal, her fewest in a game this season. Sterling was selected by the Maryland Charm with the 11th overall pick in the third round of the professional draft.
Gilmore earned Inside Lacrosse All-American honors for the second time in her career after receiving Honorable Mention recognition last season. She also earned Third Team USA Lacrosse honors and received All-American recognition from USA Lacrosse for the second consecutive season after being named an honorable mention selection as a freshman. The sophomore earned All-Big Ten First Team honors for the first time in her career. Gilmore leads the team with 118 draw controls and ranks fifth with 23 ground balls while adding 18 points this season.
Maryland earned a 14–10 win against Navy in the NCAA Quarterfinals in College Park. Hat tricks from Keeley Block and Lauren LaPointe helped push Maryland to its 29th Final Four appearance in program history. Maryland scored the final five goals of the game and had six different players record multi-point performances.
The Terps will head to Chicago to face No. 2 North Carolina on May 22 in the NCAA Tournament Semifinals at 3 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
