Women's Lacrosse Welcomes All-American Transfer Gianna Monaco

Monaco was named a 2026 USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason First Team All-American before stepping away from the team for personal reasons. During the 2025 season at Florida, she appeared in all 23 games with 21 starts, totaling 73 goals and 22 assists. She also led the Gators with 14 hat tricks during her junior campaign while earning 2025 IWLCA Third Team All-American honors and a spot on the 2025 NCAA All-Tournament Team.
"The second I talked to the whole staff, especially Cathy, I knew it felt like home," Monaco said. "They were welcoming, kind and supportive of everything I shared with them."
"I knew that for my final year, I wanted to be associated with this program," Monaco added. "The culture spoke for itself the second I got there."
"She's a strong finisher," Head Coach Cathy Reese said. "She can catch, score and dodge. When you look at the players we have and who we're graduating, we felt she would be a great fit for what we need offensively."
Monaco joins the Terps with one year of eligibility remaining.
