Men’s Basketball Announces 2026-27 Non-Conference Schedule

COLLEGE PARK, MD – The Maryland men's basketball program officially announced it's 2026-27 non-conference slate on Monday. The Terps will host eight home games at XFINITY Center including an exhibition game against West Virginia.
The schedule is highlighted by games against regional rivals Georgetown and Virginia, games against Tennessee and either Iowa State or San Diego State in the Las Vegas Players Era Championship Tournament, and South Carolina in Baltimore.
The first chance fans will have to see the 2026-27 edition of the Terps will come on Oct. 18 against West Virginia in an exhibition game at XFINITY Center.
The season opener will be on Monday, Nov. 2 against Bucknell.
The Terps will then travel to Capital One Arena in Washington to face Georgetown (Saturday, Nov. 7) in the second meeting of a four-game series. Six days later, Maryland will return home to take on long-time rival Virginia (Friday, Nov. 13).
Other home games on the docket include Alcorn State (Nov. 16), Wagner (Nov. 20), American (Dec. 2), Morgan State (Dec. 15), and Radford (Dec. 29).
Maryland will make its second straight trip to Las Vegas for the Players Era Championship Tournament during the Thanksgiving week. The Tournament will begin against Tennessee on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 3 PM ET. The Terps will then face either Iowa State or San Diego State on Thursday, Nov. 26 and then play their third game in the new bracket format on Friday, Nov. 27. The Championship Game is slated for Saturday, Nov. 28. All games for Maryland will be played at the Michelob Ultra Arena and the games will be aired on the ESPN family of networks.
December will be highlighted by two Big Ten games which will be announced at a later date as well as the game against South Carolina in Baltimore on Saturday, Dec. 19 at CFG Bank Arena. This will mark the first time the two teams have met since March 29, 2005 in the NIT Semifinals at Madison Square Garden. It will be the 59th all-time meeting between the two teams with Maryland holding a 31-27 edge in the all-time series. The two schools were conference rivals in both the Southern Conference and the ACC from the first meeting in 1925 until 1971.
In Big Ten play, the Terps will also host Illinois, Indiana, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Rutgers, UCLA, USC, and Wisconsin at XFINITY Center as part of the Big Ten slate.
Tip times and television assignments as well as the dates for Maryland's Big Ten schedule will be announced in the near future. All games will be broadcast on the Maryland Sports Radio Network with legendary Voice of the Terps Johnny Holliday, Chris Knoche, and Walt Williams calling the action.
Throughout the 2026-27 season, Maryland will have a year-long celebration of the 25th anniversary of the program's 2002 NCAA National Championship, presented by Northrop Realty. Home games throughout the 2026-27 season will feature special promotions, giveaways, player appearances and autograph sessions, and more that will celebrate this truly historic milestone in Maryland Athletics history.
