Big Ten Announces 2026-27 Men’s Basketball Schedule

COLLEGE PARK, MD - The Big Ten Conference announced the Maryland men's basketball team's 2026-27 conference schedule on Wednesday. The Terps will open league play on Sunday, Dec. 6 at Ohio State before hosting their first Big Ten home game on Wednesday, Dec. 9 against Michigan State.
Other home Big Ten games will include UCLA (Sat., Jan. 2), USC (Tue., Jan. 5), Illinois (Sat., Jan. 16), Rutgers (Tue., Jan. 19), Wisconsin (Tue., Jan. 26), Nebraska (Tue., Feb. 9), Indiana (Sat., Feb. 13), Minnesota (Wed., Feb. 24), and Northwestern (Sun., Mar. 7).
Tip times, TV assignments, and game promotions will be announced in the near future.
The 30th Big Ten Conference Men's Basketball Tournament will be played March 9-14, 2027, at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Maryland will open the league slate on the road this year when it heads to Ohio State on Sunday, Dec. 6.
January will see the Terps head to Iowa (Sat., Jan. 9) and Indiana (Tues., Jan. 12). Maryland will also play at Purdue (Sat., Jan. 23), Penn State (Sat., Jan. 30), Michigan State (Tues., Feb. 2), Oregon (Wed., Feb. 17), Washington (Sat., Feb. 20), Rutgers (Sun., Feb. 28), and Michigan (Thurs., March 4).
The Terps will play in a pair of exhibition games prior to the official start of the 2026-27 season. On Sunday, October 11, Maryland will face former ACC foe Georgia Tech (4:30 PM) at UMBC's Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena. The next Sunday, October 18, the Terps will host West Virginia at XFINITY Center.
The season opener will be on Monday, Nov. 2 against Bucknell.
The non-conference schedule is highlighted by games against regional rivals Georgetown (Sat., Nov. 7) and Virginia (Fri., Nov. 13), games against Tennessee and either Iowa State or San Diego State in the Las Vegas Players Era Championship Tournament during the Thanksgiving Week, and South Carolina in Baltimore on Saturday, Dec. 19 at CFG Bank Arena.
Other home games on the docket include Alcorn State (Nov. 16), Wagner (Nov. 20), American (Dec. 2), Morgan State (Dec. 15), and Radford (Dec. 29).
All games will be broadcast on the Maryland Sports Radio Network with legendary Voice of the Terps Johnny Holliday, Chris Knoche, and Walt Williams calling the action.
Throughout the 2026-27 season, Maryland will have a year-long celebration of the 25th anniversary of the program's 2002 NCAA National Championship, presented by Northrop Realty. Home games throughout the 2026-27 season will feature special promotions, giveaways, player appearances and autograph sessions, and more that will celebrate this truly historic milestone in Maryland Athletics history.
