COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Maryland volleyball opens Big Ten play on the road this weekend, traveling to No. 10 Purdue and No. 18 Indiana. The Terps begin conference play Thursday at Purdue before traveling to Bloomington, Indiana, to face the Hoosiers on Saturday. Both matches are scheduled for 7 p.m. and will stream on B1G+.

Strong start

Maryland went 3-0 at the ECU Tournament, sweeping Campbell, East Carolina and Old Dominion to extend its winning streak to nine matches and improve to 10-1 overall. The Terps won 27 consecutive sets and recorded eight straight sweeps, the longest sweep streak in program history.
Eva Rohrbach, Sara Toth and Brooklynne Brass were named to the ECU Tournament All-Tournament Team for their performances throughout the weekend.
Rohrbach delivered one of the most efficient weekends of her career, recording 28 kills while hitting .711 across the three matches. She added seven blocks and totaled 36.0 points while averaging 9.3 kills per match.
Brass had a breakout weekend, recording 20 kills across the final two matches. She posted a career-high nine kills against East Carolina before setting another career high with 11 kills against Old Dominion. Brass hit .476 in the finale and finished the weekend with a .295 hitting percentage.
Toth directed the Maryland offense with 106 assists, averaging 11.8 assists per set across the three matches. She also contributed 15 digs during the weekend while helping the Terps maintain their .300-plus team hitting percentage throughout the tournament.
Ava Brown also provided an all-around presence at the net, recording 23 kills and 14 blocks across the three matches. She posted seven kills and seven blocks against Campbell, followed by nine kills and two blocks against East Carolina before closing the weekend with seven kills and five blocks against Old Dominion. Brown also added three service aces during the weekend.

Rohrbach recorded 10 kills against both Campbell and East Carolina before adding eight kills against Old Dominion, finishing the weekend without a match below a .643 hitting percentage.
Gökçen contributed at both the net and offensively throughout the weekend, totaling 11 kills, 12 blocks, and a .500 hitting percentage across Maryland's three matches. She was especially efficient against Old Dominion, hitting .750 with six kills and two blocks in the three-set sweep.
Gökçen continued her strong defensive season at the net, recording 12 blocks across Maryland's three sweeps at the ECU Tournament.

Six incoming freshmen, Brooklynne Brass, Marlee Sivak, Ioanna Dimitriou, Elayna Davidson, Ava Brown and Raina Chwialkowski make up the No. 16-ranked freshman class in the nation, according to Prep Dig.
Brass has continued to make an impact offensively, recording a career-high nine kills against East Carolina before following with a career-high 11 kills against Old Dominion. She also added 11 digs and two blocks against ECU for her first career double-double.
Sivak recorded a career-high 10 kills against Old Dominion, providing another offensive spark for the Terps in their tournament finale.
Chwialkowski has provided a consistent defensive presence for Maryland, recording 24 digs against Arkansas before posting 29 digs and seven aces during the ECU Tournament. She was named to the ECU Tournament All-Tournament Team.
The class is Maryland's second-highest-ranked incoming group in program history and the highest-ranked class of the Hughes era.
Chwialkowski was named the 2024-25 Gatorade North Dakota Volleyball Player of the Year, becoming the award's recipient for the second consecutive year.

No. 10 Purdue:

Purdue enters the matchup at 7-2 and has won five straight matches, including three consecutive sweeps to close nonconference play. The Boilermakers have not dropped a set during their five-match winning streak.
Freshman Addy Tindall has emerged as a key offensive option for Purdue, leading the Boilermakers with 18 kills on .441 hitting in their sweep of UCF. She also recorded a career-high 22 kills against Houston earlier in the season.
Setter Taylor Anderson has helped lead a balanced Purdue offense, including a 41-assist performance against Houston and a team .404 hitting percentage in the Boilermakers' win over UCF.
Purdue has been effective at the service line and net, recording a season-high 11 aces and 13 blocks in its sweep of IU Indy while holding the Jaguars to a -.056 hitting percentage.

No.18 Indiana:

Indiana enters the matchup at 7-2 and has won five straight matches, including four straight wins following a 3-0 loss to No. 22 Tennessee. The Hoosiers most recently defeated NC State in four sets.
Outside hitter Jaidyn Jager has been a consistent offensive threat for Indiana, recording at least 10 kills in seven consecutive matches. She posted 17 kills against Coastal Carolina and has been a floor captain for the Hoosiers this season.
First-year outside hitter Sara Snowbarger has provided another offensive option for the Hoosiers, recording 10 kills against Coastal Carolina while helping Indiana finish the match with 60 kills and a .331 hitting percentage.
Indiana has shown the ability to produce against ranked competition, earning wins over No. 12 Texas A&M in five sets and Georgia during the Big Ten/SEC Challenge.
