On Oct. 11, 2024, Brock Keener was announced as an assistant coach by Maryland baseball head coach Matt Swope.
Keener helped lead the Terrapins to a 27-29 record in 2026. In the regular season, the Terps led the Big Ten in runs scored, home runs, OBP, total bases, slugging percentage, RBI, walks, and OPS. The Terrapins finished third in the nation in walks at the end of the regular season. Keener coached Maryland to it's 2,000th win in program history in an eventful victory over Indiana on April 12. Maryland picked up a ranked win over #12 USC on May 28. Brayden Martin was named to the All-Big Ten Third Team and three Terps made the Big Ten All-Freshman Team: Ty Kaunas, Bud Coombs and Ryan Costello.
In his first season at Maryland, Keener helped lead the Terrapins to a 27-29 record in 2025. Maryland won a pair of contests over ranked opponents (#12 Wake Forest and #15 Oregon), its first wins over ranked opponents since the 2023 season. The 2025 offense was one of the best in program history, ranking in the top five all-time in home runs (94, 3rd), runs (457, 4th), RBI (425, 4th), and walks (336, 3rd). Keener coached the Terps to their 800th win at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium, defeating James Madison on March 4. Three players were named to All-Big Ten teams, including catcher Alex Calarco earning first team honors.
Keener spent three seasons at Georgetown, first joining the staff in the Fall of 2021 as a volunteer assistant before being promoted to assistant coach in 2023. In 2024, Keener helped lead the Hoyas to their first-ever BIG EAST Championship game. The Hoyas had six players receive All-BIG EAST honors, led by Christian Ficca who was named the conference's Player of the Year. Four Georgetown players received ABCA All-Region honors, which was the most of any school in the East Region and the first time in program history that Georgetown had four selections in a single-season.
In 2023, Keener helped coach the Hoyas to their first-ever win in the BIG EAST Tournament. Six Hoyas received All-BIG EAST honors, with Jake Boss named the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Year. Ubaldo Lopez set the program record for home runs in a season with 20, breaking his previous record with 19 in 2022. Lopez also set the program record for career home runs with 39.
In his first season with Georgetown in 2022, Keener helped coach a squad that won 30 games for the first time in program history and reached its first-ever BIG EAST Tournament. Keener helped coach the first BIG EAST Freshman of the Year in program history, Owen Carapellotti, and was part of the staff that won the program's first BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year award following a six-win campaign in 2021.
Before joining the Hoyas, Keener spent two seasons with Army. In 2021, Keener was named an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Black Knights. He helped lead Army to the 2021 Patriot League Championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. He mentored the conference's Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year while having seven student-athletes selected to postseason All-Patriot League teams. The Black Knights led the conference in both hits (484) and runs scored (328) in 2021.
Prior to Army, Keener was a student assistant coach at Michigan during the 2019 season, where he helped lead the Wolverines to the program's eighth NCAA College World Series and its third-ever trip to the CWS Finals, finishing as the national runner-up. In addition to being a student assistant coach at Michigan, Keener played two seasons with the Wolverines from 2017-18. Keener played in 50 games for the Wolverines, finishing his career with five doubles, a triple and 22 RBI.
Keener graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Michigan in 2019.
