Colby Wilson was named Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Development at the University of Maryland in August 2025 and enters his second year with the Maryland Made program in 2026-27.
In his role, Wilson oversees Maryland Made’s Leadership Education pillar. He advises the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), directs the “Built to Lead” Leadership Academy, oversees the Maryland Made Mentor Program, and leads all student-athlete community engagement and service initiatives. Additionally, Wilson serves as the team liaison for Track & Field/Cross Country, Women’s Lacrosse, Field Hockey, and Volleyball.
During his first year at Maryland, Wilson launched the inaugural “Pie A Terp” fundraiser through SAAC benefiting Toys for Tots, which raised more than $1,000 in its first year by engaging student-athletes, coaches, and staff in a department-wide holiday giving campaign.
Prior to Maryland, Wilson served as Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Development at the University of Pittsburgh, where he focused on career development and NIL education while also leading the department’s leadership academy programming. During his time at Pittsburgh, he was recognized as Administrator of the Year by the Men’s Track & Field program for his impact and service to student-athletes.
Before joining Pittsburgh, Wilson was selected for the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Internship Program, serving on the NCAA Leadership Development team. In that role, he helped support national leadership programming and educational initiatives for student-athletes, coaches, and administrators.
An active contributor to the collegiate athletics ecosystem, Wilson has completed numerous NCAA Leadership Development programs and now serves as a facilitator for NCAA leadership programming and DISC assessment workshops. He is also a Lead Consultant for the NCAA Career in Sports Forum, helping prepare curriculum for aspiring professionals for careers in the athletics industry. Wilson is a member of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A) and previously served on the organization’s Emerging Professionals Committee in 2024.
A native of Tewksbury, Massachusetts, Wilson graduated summa cum laude from Springfield College in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management. As a member of the Track & Field program, he was named the 2023 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Student-Athlete of the Year, recognizing his excellence in athletics, academics, leadership, and service. During his time at Springfield, Wilson served as President of the Men of Excellence organization, was a member of the New Student Orientation Executive Board, and was selected as the institution’s 2022 Convocation Speaker.
Wilson is currently pursuing a Master of Professional Studies degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology at the University of Maryland.
