AS A SENIOR (2019-20): Started all 31 games in season cut short (no postseason) due to coronavirus pandemic ... led team to 2020 Big Ten Championship ... led team in scoring (16.3), assists (4.5), minutes (34.7) and steals (1.0) for third straight year ... led Big Ten in free throws made (172) and free throws attempted (212) ... ranked third in Big Ten minutes/g (34.7), fifth in assists/g (4.5) and sixth in points/g (16.3) ... had 28 games in double-figures, including final 13 of season ... scored 24 points, including final 11 points of a 14-0 run to close win at MSU (2/15) ... .scored career-high 31 pts and added 6 assts and 6 rebs vs. #18 Iowa (1/30); became first Terp with that stat line since Greivis Vasquez vs. Virginia Tech in 2010 ... surpassed 500 career assists at Wisconsin (1/14) ... hit game-tying 3-pointer with 19 seconds left and made game-winning free throw to lift team past Illinois (12/4) ... scored 22 points and added six reboudns and four assists vs. Marquette (12/1) ... scored 20 points and added five assists vs. Harvard (11/29) ... dropped career-high 30 points vs. Temple (11/28) ... added 10 pounds to frame in offseason after receiving feedback from NBA scouts.

On decision to return for senior season: "As a kid that was born down the street who has always been a Maryland fan, I just want to leave my legacy here. I want to be the best I can and I believe I have so much more to give Maryland."

AS A JUNIOR (2018-19): Started all 34 games, leading the team in scoring (15.6/g), assists (4.4/g), minutes (34.7/g) and steals (0.9/g) for the second straight year ... made 70 3-pointers - the seventh-most in program single-season history ... had a stretch of four straight 20-point games (1/8 - 1/18), which was the longest by a Terp since joining the Big Ten Conference ... scored 21 points and added five assists and two steals vs. Minnesota (3/8) ... notched 19 points and four assist vs. Ohio State (2/23) ... posted 17 points on career-best 5 3-pointers and had 8 assists at #21 Iowa (2/19) ... notched 24 points, a season-high 7 assists and 5 rebounds in win over #22 Indiana (1/11) ... matched his career-high with 27 points, scoring 23 in the second half in win at Minnesota (1/8) ... scored 23 points and shot 4-for-4 from 3 in win over Loyola Maryland (12/11) ... became Maryland’s 55th all-time 1000-point scorer while finishing with 17 points vs. Loyola Chicago (12/8) ... became first Terp to finish with at least 26 points, seven rebounds and six assists (vs. Marshall, 11/23) since Greivis Vasquez in 2010 ... finished three points shy of career high with 24 points in win at Navy (11/9)

BEFORE MARYLAND: A four-star recruit, he was ranked nationally as the 46th best player in the 2016 class according to Rivals.com….Played high school basketball at St. John's College High School and as a junior led St. John's to a win over Gonzaga to capture the D.C. State Athletic Association title…Scored 21 points in the championship game, and was later named the D.C. State Athletic Association Player of the Year…Played AAU basketball with the DC Thunder the past two seasons….Following his junior season, Cowan was honored as the DMV Elite Player of the Year, and was also named Washington Post First Team All-Met and First Team All-Washington Catholic Athletic Conference… Selected to participate in the Under Armour All-American camp as a junior.

PERSONAL: Son of Anthony and Traci Cowan…Father, Anthony, earned his master's degree at Maryland and is head coach of AAU team - D.C. Blue Devils… Uncle, Thomas Skeeter, graduated from Maryland and is head coach of AAU Team Team Skills...sister, Alex, won the WCAC state title as a junior as Anthony's alam mater- St. John's...Grandmother, Valencia Skeeter, was a professor in the African American Studies program at Maryland and is an assistant coach for Team Skills...Watches Damian Lillard highlights and eats cereal every morning...Has a tattoo on his chest with the word AMBITIOUS - that he got on his 18th birthday - for those who doubt him because of his size...His mom, Traci, and his uncle, Thomas, recently established an afterschool program called Team Skills Academy in Laurel, MD., in which they help children with their academics and instruct them on the game of basketball...During high school - he would help assist his mom, Traci, at her daycare center as he enjoyed working with children and teaching them the game of basketball...Patterns his game after Cleveland Cavaliers guard Isaiah Thomas...Favorite basketball player is Kyrie Irving...Spent three days in July 2017 as a counselor at the Under Armour All-America Camp in Philadelphia...earned his degree in Communication in the summer of 2019 and is currently pursuing Masters of Professional Studies in Technology Entrepreneurship.
