Steven Asher is in his second season as a graduate assistant for the University of Maryland. As a member of the Maryland men’s basketball staff, Asher is responsible for assisting with the filming and editing of game and practice film, scouting reports, tracking statistics, overseeing the recruiting database and coordinating team travel.
Asher helps monitor academic progress of student-athletes as well as overseeing the nine-man student manager staff. Asher also helps coordinate on-campus recruiting visits of high school prospects. He is currently pursing a Master’s Degree in Real Estate Development.
Prior to serving on staff, Asher was a basketball performance intern for the Director of Basketball Performance, Kyle Tarp. In this role, Asher assisted and helped facilitate all aspects of the basketball performance program for both the men's and women's Maryland basketball teams.
While interning, Asher also assisted with player development workouts and video editing for former Maryland women's basketball assistant coach and current assistant coach of the Washington Wizards, David Adkins. Asher is also a certified member of the IAABO Board 12 basketball officials.
Before coming to Maryland, Asher graduated from James Madison in 2012 with a Bachelor's Degree in exercise science. While attending JMU, Asher played and served as vice president of the JMU club basketball team. Asher graduated from River Hill High School in 2008 where he was a member of the 2007 Maryland 3A State Championship Basketball team.
