Since arriving in College Park for his second stint, Mills has led Maryland Athletics to unprecedented fundraising success while also emphasizing campus and community partnership and fostering a culture of volunteerism and advocacy.
Maryland Athletics raised more than $30M in both 2024-25 and 2025-26 fiscal years, the first time in school history the department has raised $30M+ in consecutive years. In FY26, the Terrapin Club raised more than $38M, the second-most in department history, and in FY25 raised more than $33M, its highest mark since 2021-22, including more than $18M in cash, the highest mark in recent history.
For the fourth consecutive year, the Terrapin Club increased its unique donor count, including more than 9,000 in FY26, the most since FY11, and more than 8,900 in FY25. The 26% increase from FY24 to FY25 represented the highest single-year jump in the previous 25 years.
He has guided the Building Champions campaign to new heights as philanthropic support has helped three facilities get finished during his tenure, including the Barry P. Gossett Basketball Performance Center, the Bobb Baseball Performance Center and the Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex.
Mills has taken an active role in solidifying the future of Maryland Athletics through both endowment growth and cultivation of new donors and fans. Under Mills the Terrapin Club has established nearly 100 endowments in support of both student-athlete scholarships and programmatic support, including nearly 40 in FY26, the most in a single year in school history. He launched both a "next generation" program for Terps under 40 years old and a Student Terrapin Club for current UMD students to build affinity and engagement.
He has prioritized letterwinner philanthropy and engagement through a continued partnership with the M Club, a renewed emphasis on championship celebrations and team reunions, and enhanced benefits and opportunities.
