A 2012 graduate of the University of Maryland, Sean Ellenby was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Men’s Basketball Communications in May of 2019 after serving in the role on an interim basis during the 2018-19 season.

In his role, Ellenby oversees all communications strategy, messaging and publicity as the spokesperson for the Maryland men’s basketball team. He is responsible for developing, enhancing and protecting the overall brand of Maryland men's basketball, including its individual coaches and student-athletes.

Prior to working with the men’s basketball program, Ellenby spent four seasons as the primary communications contact for the NCAA National Champion men’s lacrosse team and as the secondary contact for the football team. He also worked with the softball and volleyball programs during his first stint at Maryland.

In addition to his time at Maryland, Ellenby has also worked in athletics communications offices for Penn State, Philadelphia Union, DC United and Johns Hopkins.

In January of 2020, Ellenby was named an honoree of the University of Maryland Terrapin Club's "30 Under 30" program, which recognizes Maryland young alumni for their professional lives and embodiment of Maryland pride.

Ellenby graduated from Maryland in 2012 with a degree in history. A native of Bel Air, Md., he currently resides in Baltimore and is an avid fan of all Philadelphia sports.
