Heather Arianna was hired by the Barry and Mary Gossett Center for Academic and Personal Excellence in 1995, entering her 31st school year at Maryland this year. Arianna currently works with the Men’s Lacrosse, Women’s Lacrosse, and Men's Track & Field programs.
During her tenure with the Terrapins, Arianna spent 13 years as the head of academics for Football and seven years in the same role with Women’s Basketball, as well as serving as the athletic academic counselor for almost every other team.
She is the Unit’s liaison to the Advising Colleges, the Division of Letters & Sciences, and the Office of Student Conduct; she coordinates the Priority Registration process; and she serves as a member of the Campus Advising Community group. Additionally, she has taught multiple sections of UNIV 100/EDCP 108O throughout her time at UMD. She is also a longtime member of N4A and is an active member of the N4A Awards Committee.
A Liverpool, N.Y. native, Arianna earned her Bachelor's degree from Syracuse University in 1992 and a Master’s degree in Education with Counseling and College Student Personnel Services from the University of Louisville in 1994.
She spent a year as an Academic Assistant at Florida State University before coming to College Park in 1995.
Arianna and her husband, Vinnie, reside in Odenton, Md., with their two daughters, Marissa, who graduated from Maryland in 2026, and Samantha, who attends Salisbury University.
