Armas and Merkel to Play at Umbro Select College All-Star Classic

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland seniors Steve Armas (Germantown, Md.) and Randy Merkel (Carol Stream, Ill.) have been selected to play in the fourth annual Umbro Select All-Star Classic which will take place on Feb. 6 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Ninety-six of the nation's top seniors join 33 all-stars from the USL.
Armas joins fellow ACC teammates John Wilson of Clemson and Jay Heaps of Duke on the NCAA Elite 16 team which will play the A-League/USL Select team at 8 p.m. Merkel teams up with Jeff Bilyk of Clemson as the only two ACC players on the Division I men's team who will meet the Division II, III and NAIA men's team.
This is the second consecutive year Maryland has had players selected to play in the Classic, as Leo Cullen and R.T. Moore participated in it last year.
