Baseball Squad Falls to Oklahoma

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - Junior catcher Josh Witcher hit a one-out grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning as Oklahoma University (1-0) opened its 1999 baseball season with a 10-9 victory over the University of Maryland in the ACC/Disney Baseball Blast, Friday afternoon at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex near Orlando.
Tied 5-5 after six innings, Maryland (0-1) scored a run in both the seventh and eighth innings, but was unable to hold the 7-5 lead. Senior shortstop Casey Trout paced the Terps, registering his first career four-hit game. On the day, Trout finished 4-for-4 from the plate with two RBI and two runs scored. Junior designated hitter Craig Munroe, a transfer from Temple, also chipped in three hits (including a double), two runs and two RBI.
Both teams return to action Saturday at the ACC/Disney Baseball Blast near Orlando. Oklahoma meets No. 2 Georgia Tech (3 p.m.), while Maryland faces Jacksonville (7 p.m.).
