COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Maryland womens soccer team, which is looking to win a school- record-tying four regular-season Atlantic Coast Conference games this season, closes out its conference schedule as it travels to play No. 1-ranked North Carolina and Wake Forest. Following the weekend of Oct. 25, the Terps final three games of the regular season will be non-conference match-ups against George Washington (Oct. 28), Louisiana State (Oct. 30) and Alabama (Nov. 1). Maryland is unbeaten in seven of its last 11 games, defeating a pair of ranked teams and three ACC teams during that stretch.

Keri Sarver (Massillon, Ohio) and Emmy Harbo (Baton Rouge, La.) continue to rank among the top 10 scorers in the ACC. Sarver, who did not play in either of last weeks games, needs only three points to pass former NC State All-American Charmaine Hooper and move in to seventh place all-time in league annals. Harbo is ranked 10th in ACC history.

TERPS 100 POINT CLUB
Seniors Emmy Harbo and Keri Sarver are the only players in school history to have scored at least 100 career points.
BAUSMAN, SARVER NAMED TO SOCCER AMERICA TEAM OF THE WEEK
Senior defender Abby Bausman (Glen Arm, Md.) and senior forward Keri Sarver were named to the Soccer America womens team of the week for their performances two weeks ago in leading the Terps to an unbeaten 2-0-1 record. Maryland defeated James Madison, 1-0, and No. 17 Virginia, 3-2 OT, and tied fourth-ranked Connecticut, 2-2 OT, during the week ending Oct. 11. Bausman earned the award for her defensive performances in all three games and her offensive performance against James Madison. Defensively, she helped limit Virginia and Connecticut below their season scoring averages. Against James Madison, Bausman was credited with an assist on the game-winning goal by Sarver. Sarver continued her high-octane offensive output last week as she scored three goals and added one assist. She scored the game-winners against both JMU and Virginia. Her game-winning goal against Virginia came in overtime and helped Maryland defeat Virginia for the first time in school history.
BASALYGA NETS FIRST OF THE SEASON
Junior midfielder Lindsay Basalyga (Cincinnati, Ohio) scored her first goal of the 1998 season against Florida State. It came on a corner kick that bent itself around the near post of the Seminole goal and into the net for an unassisted goal. The goal was the fourth of her career. It marked the second time in her career that she had scored a goal against FSU. She has now scored two career goals and has been credited with two career assists against the ACCs southern-most team.
KIRKUP IS MARYLANDS TOP ACC WINNER
Head coach Alan Kirkup, who has a 9-7-2 record in ACC games during his three-year tenure at Maryland, is the all-time program leader in conference victories. Kirkup entered the 1998 season with six ACC wins to his credit, one more than April Heinrichs who coached the Terps from 1991-95. Kirkup is the first Maryland coach to win nine ACC games and have a winning record against conference opponents. Including the ACC Tournament, Kirkup has a 11-9-2 record (.565 winning percentage) in conference play.
KEYES RETURNS TO LINEUP
Senior defender Tiffany Keyes (Harrisburg, Pa.) returned to the lineup for the first time since injuring her knee against Southern California on Sept. 11 as she saw action against both William & Mary and Florida State. Keyes, who has missed 23 of the last 38 games in the last two seasons, continues to make remarkable returns to the field after injuries to her knees. Keyes started the first 11 games of the 1997 season before being injured, and the Terps won all 11 games.
FRESHMEN CONTINUE TO GAIN EXPERIENCE
Newcomers Courtney Beirne (Westminster, Md.), Carrie Klotz (Cortland, N.Y.) and Debbie Lieberman (Commack, N.Y.) continue to adjust well to the college game. Beirne and Lieberman have played in all 15 games this season and both have earned starting assignments. Beirne has started four matches while Klotz has earned five starting assignments. Klotz and Beirne were both in the starting lineup against Florida State. Lieberman most recently saw action in the Terps match against Florida State.
TERPS LOOKING TO WIN FOURTH ACC GAME
With two regular-season ACC games remaining, Maryland is looking to gain its fourth conference victory of the season. The school record for ACC victories is four during the 1995 and 1997 seasons. During both of those years that the Terps won at least four games in the ACC, they have advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals (one win shy of advancing to the NCAA semifinals).
MCCULLOUGH ADDS TO ASSIST TOTAL
Senior Robin McCullough (Covington, Ga.) was credited with one assist last week. She now has a career-high eight assists this season and 23 for her career. Her eight assists this season ties her for the team lead with Emmy Harbo and stands as the fourth-best single-season assist effort in school history. Her 23 career assists places her third in school history behind Sarvers 33 and Harbos 24.
SARVER IS ACCS TOTAL POINTS LEADER
Keri Sarver is the current leader in total points among ACC players this season. She is looking to become just the third Terp to lead the ACC in a statistical category. Sarvers 37 total points placed her above Sara Burkett of Clemson and Cindy Parlow of North Carolina. Emmy Harbo (21 goals, 1996) and Missy Price (nine shutouts, 1996) are the only Maryland players to lead the ACC in a statistical category in the history of the Terp program.
OVERTIME, AGAIN?
Maryland has played in a near school-record three overtime games this season. The school record for overtime games in a single season is four during both the 1993 and 1997 seasons. Maryland has lost only one overtime game since the beginning of the 1992 season.
MYNARSKI IN DOUBLE FIGURE SCORING
Junior midfielder Jackie Mynarski has scored 13 total points and a career-high three game-winning goals this season.
