COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- No. 22 Maryland (18-7, 7-4 ACC), which has won five consecutive conference games for the third time in the last two seasons, travels to Winston-Salem to face Wake Forest (14-11, 5-7 ACC) on Saturday. The Terps defeated Georgia Tech (92-70) on Wednesday night in Cole Field House to raise their ACC record to 7-4 and move into a second place tie with North Carolina.
Maryland has won seven of its last eight conference games after beginning the ACC season with an 0-3 mark. During the second half of the conference season, the Terps have avenged all of their first half defeats with victories over NC State (Feb. 6, 78-73), Duke (Feb. 9, 98-87) and Georgia Tech (Feb. 16, 92-70).
Maryland enters Saturday's game having won two consecutive ACC road games with victories at Florida State (Jan. 29, 82-63) and Duke (Feb. 9, 98-87).

Sophomore Juan Dixon (Baltimore, Md.), one of the nation's hottest
players, enters Saturday's game against Wake Forest as the ACC leader in
scoring (21.7 ppg) in conference games only. Dixon moved past Clemson's
Will Solomon (21.6 ppg) who had led the league in conference games
scoring since Jan. 13. Dixon has scored 30 or more points twice in the
last three games and has not scored below 17 points since his streak
began on Jan. 16 with 31 points against Georgia Tech.

Dixon Named ACC Co-Player Of The Week
Sophomore Juan Dixon, who averaged 26.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0
assists, 3.0 steals and shot 53.7 percent from the field in two games
last week, was named the ACC co-player of the week on Monday. He shared
the award with Clemson's Will Solomon. Dixon matched his career-high of
31 points as Maryland defeated No. 3 Duke in Cameron Indoor Stadium and
added a team-high 21 points against No. 19 Temple.

Maryland enters Saturday's game against Wake Forest with a 7-4
conference record and is tied for second place with North Carolina.
Head coach Gary Williams, whose Terps have averaged 21.3 victories a
year in the last seven seasons, enters Saturday's game against Wake
Forest with a 417-253 (62.2) career record in his 22nd season as a head
coach on the Division I level. Maryland has won double-figure ACC games
in back-to-back seasons and has finished in fourth place or higher in
the league standings each year since 1994.

Lending A Helping Hand
Maryland recorded a near season-high 28 assists against Georgia Tech on
Wednesday night. The Terps' season high of 30 assists was set against
Coastal Carolina on Jan. 2. Entering Saturday's game against Wake
Forest, Maryland leads the ACC in assists and should become the first

Terps Vs. Wake Forest - The First Time
COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Lonny Baxter scored 12 of his 18 points in a
game-opening 24-4 run as Maryland defeated Wake Forest 73-51 on Jan.

Juan Dixon had 18 points and reserve forward Tahj Holden contributed a career-high 17 for the Terrapins, who never trailed in ending three-game losing streak.
Darius Songaila scored 14 points for Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons, who averaged an ACC-best 14 turnovers per game, had 13 by halftime and finished with 20. They shot just 29 percent, including 2-for-10 from 3-point range.
Maryland made its first nine shots for an 18-2 lead with four minutes elapsed. Songaila then scored for the Demon Deacons, but two dunks and a follow shot by Baxter made it 24-4. Minutes later, Baxter scored on a drive to put the Terrapins up 29-10. At that point, Baxter was seven-for-seven and Wake Forest was four-for-20 with 11 turnovers.

On Gary Williams
Gary Williams is the only head coach in school history to guide the
Terps to seven postseason tournament appearances within his first 10
seasons. He is also one of only two coaches in school history to have
directed his first two teams to winning records and to a regular season
conference championship during the first six years at the helm.

Gary Williams knew it would be close. His daughter Kristin and her
husband Geoff were expecting their first baby, and the due date was
right around the date of the Terps' season opener. Coach Williams was in
Ohio on Nov. 15 for the birth of his grandson, David Geoffrey Scott,
before returning to College Park to collect his 400th career win on Nov.

Sophomore Danny Miller connected on a career-high four 3-point shots
against Duke in the Terps' 98-87 victory on Feb. 9. He enters
Saturday's game against Wake Forest with a career-high 30 3-point shots
and a team-high 40.0 shooting percentage from beyond the arc. He is
shooting nearly seven percentage points higher from beyond the arc than
he did as a freshman.
