College Park, Md - Maryland's Jason Yellin has been named the SID of the Year for women's soccer in the Mid-Atlantic Region by SoccerBuzz, and also received fourth-place recognition nationally. The honor comes in Yellin's first year as the women's soccer contact at the University of Maryland.
Yellin, a 1996 graduate of Stony Brook, is the Publications Coordinator and Assistant Media Relations Director for the Terrapins. In addition to his responsibilities with women's soccer, he is also the main contact for the men's lacrosse team and is an integral part of the football and basketball statcrews.
North Carolina's Dave Lohse was named the National SID of the Year by SoccerBuzz, with Notre Dame's Erich Wachter finishing second nationally, Northern Illinois' Robert Hester third in the nation, and Yellin rounding out the top four.
The women's soccer team received its fifth straight bid to the NCAA tournament this year under the direction of first-year head coach Shannon Higgins Cirovski. The team finished with a 11-10-1 record (4-2-1, 2nd place ACC), and started spring practices this week to prepare for next season.
