
No. 1 Florida State Beats Maryland Baseball Team 10-0

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. -
Mike Futrell went 2-for-3 with two doubles and a pair of RBI, leading Florida State (28-4, 7-2 ACC) to a 10-0 win over Maryland (6-18, 0-6 ACC) in baseball action on Saturday at Dick Howser Stadium. The game marked the last of a three-game series between the two schools.
Florida State opened up the scoring in the bottom of the second inning when John-Ford Griffin singled home Futrell, giving the Seminoles a 1-0 advantage. Futrell extended the lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning when he doubled home a pair of runs.
In the seventh inning,the Seminoles blew the game open with four runs to take a 7-0 lead. Bobby Spano delivered the big blow with a two-run single into left field.
The Seminoles then added three more runs in the eighth inning to go up 10-0. John Halliday had the key hit with a two-out two run double into center field.
Steve Oursler and Sean Lomas paced the Terps with two hits each.
Maryland is back in action on Tuesday when it travels to UMBC for a 3 p.m. game.
TERP NOTES: Brian Patenaude extended his hitting streak to a career-high seven games.
