Oh, brother, can he rebound," said Joel Chaney of the Raleigh News and Observer . ranked No. 20 among the top players in the nation by recruiting expert Bob Gibbons . considered to be the top recruit from the state of North Carolina according to Bob Gibbons . transferred to Enloe High School in Raleigh after spending his sophomore and junior years of his high school career at Whiteville . played his freshman season at West Columbus High . averaged 23 points and 13.1 rebounds and shot nearly 70 percent from the field as a junior in leading Whiteville to the state 2-A championship . helped Whiteville to the state playoffs with a 32-2 record during his sophomore season . led the Raleigh Razorbacks to the state AAU championship prior to the beginning of his senior season . began to attract national attention as a junior at Whiteville . scored a career-high 39 points, grabbed 24 rebounds and blocked nine shots in a victory over West Columbus . made 13 of 14 field goal attempts in only 17 minutes played against Jones Senior High School. earned regional MVP honors in the state tournament . scored 21 points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked five shots in the regional championship game against Wallace-Rose Hill . scored 20 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, was credited with four assists and blocked four shots in the state championship victory over West Caldwell . led Enloe to the state championship tournament Eastern Regional semifinals as a senior . scored a team-high 20 points against Fayetteville Seventy-First in the semifinal round of the tournament.

DeMatha finished with a 28-5 record . DeMatha won the championship of the Subway Shootout International in Quebec to being the 1999-00 season . advanced to the championship of the Glaxo Wellcome Holiday Invitational in Raleigh, N.C. . also helped lead the Stags to the championship of the Alhambra Tournament in Cumberland, Md., with three consecutive victories . a season-high 10 points against Bishop Neumann on Dec. 11 . scored seven points against Broadneck on Dec. 14 . totaled nine points against Pallotti on Jan. 15.
