COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland's women's soccer program held its annual alumni game on Saturday, April 28, as the current Terps and former Terps played to a 3-3 tie. The event drew more than 25 former players back to the campus.

"It was great to see the alumni come out and support the program," said head coach Shannon Higgins-Cirovski. "We have outstanding alumni that really care about the program. It was lots of fun to get a competitive game with them."

After the alumni jumped out to a 2-0 lead, Maryland scored the next three goals with sophomore Courtney Beirne netting a pair of goals and freshman Kim King scoring the other goal. Beirne also recorded an assist on King's goal on a beautiful pass while King returned the favor on one of Beirne's goal.

The Alumni came back to tie the game at 3-3 as recent alum Emily Janss, playing against her former teammates from the fall of 1999, scored to even the game.

Junior goalies Ali Wolff and Riki-Ann Serrins split time in the goal for Maryland.

Among the other alumni on hand were Emmy Harbo, Kathy Lacey, Katie McCabe, Cailin Mullins, Heather Rowe, Michele Ogden, Natalie Rich, Missy Price, Tania Sheremeta, Michelle Salmon, Leslie Kehrin, Robin McCullough, Maureen McDonough, Emily Janss, Lindsay Basalyga and Jackie Mynarski.

The game signaled the end of the competitve spring season for the Terps. Higgins-Cirovski was very happy with the Terps' success on the offensive end of the field this spring.

"We had a very good spring," said the 1999 ACC Coach of the Year. "We sorted out who is going to score the goals for us. We experimented with new formations that worked well. After losing out top two scorers we have found some scoring punch. We have also found out we have a lot more depth. I can't wait for the season to begin this fall."
