Can you say welcome home???
So, the ball goes in the net?
It's not keep away?
I think Wednesday was the start of a new season.
New
superstitions, new order of doing things, new fight in our hearts: you
see, we were out there battling for our seniors. On Wednesday we beat George
Mason, 1-0. On Wednesday, we proved to ourselves that we can turn things around,
that we have it in us to win and that we can score!!! All it took was a little home turtle magic
Playing George Mason, one of our regional opponents, has always
been a battle. The games are always filled with heart, guts and
hopefully glory. With a familiar warm-up tape, familiar faces in the stands and
an almost tear jerking pre-game speech, our blood was pumping and emotions
were flowing.
We came right out from the beginning and fought
hard. Tackles were strong, passes were crisp, and communication was
high. Things were clicking.
An omen if you will, or maybe a premonition, whatever have you:
my nap during the afternoon consisted of a dream whereby we won 1-0. I knew
it was going to happen. There's that feeling amongst the team again.
With all of our preparation up to this point, I consciously and
apparently subconsciously knew we were ready to play well and win: and
that we did.
Some people say that in order to appreciate the glory of a win,
one
has to experience the disappointment of a loss. We have felt this pain.
We have felt the agony long enough, and we left this game, a little
bruised
and a little battered, but with smiles on our faces, knowing that on THIS DAY, this GLORIOUS day, we got the job done.
