- No. 12 Maryland pushed its overall record to 13-4 in tonight's 81-71 win over 10th-ranked Wake Forest. The win was the Terrapins' first at home over a Top 10 opponent since 1998. That last win over a Top 10 opponent at Cole was a Jan. 14, 1998 win over North Carolina (its last win on the road against a Top 10 team was a 98-87 win last season over No. 3 Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
- Tonight's win was Maryland's 12th in its last 13 games and 13th win in its last 15 regular season ACC games. The win also raises the Terps' record at Cole Field House to 47-5 over the course of the last four seasons.
- The win over Wake Forest was the Terrapins' third-in-a-row over the Demon Deacons, its longest streak since the 1993-94 and `94-95 seasons. In addition, Maryland now takes over the lead in the all-time series by one game as the two schools were deadlocked at 50 coming into tonight's game after 100 meetings.
- The Terps carried a 41-33 lead into the half of tonight's game, continuing the trend this season as it has not trailed at the half in a single game of 2000-01. Another trend Maryland continued in the game was its rebounding trend -- it won the battle of the boards (47-35) and won the game. The Terrapins are 12-1 this year when they have out-rebounded their foes.
- The Terrapins pounded the offensive glass tonight, securing a season-high 24 offensive rebounds. In addition, they held Wake in check on their end of the floor as the Demon Deacons had only 11 offensive rebounds. As a result, the Terps had 22 second-chance points versus WFU's 10.
- Maryland's big three of Juan Dixon, Terence Morris and Lonny Baxter carried the load again, teaming up for 68 points and 27 rebounds against Wake. The 68 points was 84 percent of the Terps offensive production for the evening.
- Dixon was the star of the game with a season-high 30 points. He did so on 9-of-18 shooting and 10-for-10 from the charity stripe. The junior has now scored at least 19 points in 11-straight games. In that span, he has averaged 23.2 points per outing.
- In addition to his overall scoring, Dixon also kept his free throw streak alive as he made all 10 he took versus WFU to push his current run of free throws made 31 straight and 51 of the last 52 he has attempted.
- Lonny Baxter notched the 15th double-double of his career (3rd this season) with 18 points and 15 rebounds. In fact, he almost had a double-double by halftime as he had 11 points and nine boards at the intermission. His 15 rebounds are a season high and his most since collecting a like amount against Duke on Jan. 9, 2000. In his last eight games, Baxter is averaging 18 points and eight boards per contest.
