What's Up With Women's Soccer: Entry No. 4

Oct. 4, 2001

For your reading pleasure, Valerie Lawrence has been so kind to write a recap of the George Mason game took place on Sept. 26 in place of Debbie Lieberman for Entry No. 4.

By Valerie Lawrence

It was Wednesday. We left campus to grab a pre-game meal from Jungle Grill as usual, then headed for George Mason's campus. Once we arrived, we hopped off the bus to check out the field and eventually wandered into the locker room to get prepared for the game.

Mason took the lead around 20 minutes into the first half after a highly disputable no-call. The ball was out of bounds on the left sideline, yet the Mason midfielder continued to play, and she sent a cross into the box for a messy finish.

It was not until the final ten minutes of the first half that we answered back when Jen Biscoe tucked a shot by the Patriot's keeper.

The game remained tied all the way through 90 minutes. The next step was sudden victory, two 15 minute halves occur and the first team to put the ball in the back of the net heads home with a victory.

We were determined to be that team as we nearly doubled Mason's number of shots on goal. We had our share of opportunities, but unfortunately, time was our worst enemy. The full 120 minutes came to a close and both teams left the field with their only tie of the season thus far.
