Maryland vs. Delaware State: Postgame Notes

Nov. 24, 2001

  • With the 77-53 victory, Maryland extends its season win streak to three games and its national-leading non-conference home court victory streak to 79 games.

  • The Terrapins are now 26-1 all-time against schools from the MEAC, and have won 14 straight against MEAC competition since falling to Coppin State on Dec. 12, 1989, in Cole Field House.

  • Maryland trailed Delaware State in rebounding at halftime, 24-23, before outrebounding the Hornets 31-7 in the second half.

  • Dating to last season, Maryland has kept 12 of its last 13 opponents shooting under 44 percent from the floor. Delaware State's 29.2% mark from the field makes the Hornets the ninth team in that span to shoot below 40%.

  • Terp leading-scorer Lonny Baxter moved up a spot among Maryland scoring leaders, as his 18 points gives the center a new career total of 1,389. Baxter is now 16th all time, surpassing Exree Hipp, who totaled 1,372 points from 1993-96.

  • With 18 points and 12 rebounds, Baxter posted his 24th career double-double and first of the 2001-02 season. He led the ACC in double-doubles with 12 as a sophomore and registered 11 as a junior.

  • Baxter led the Terps in rebounding Saturday for the first time all season as well. His new career total of 746 moves him into the top 10 all-time, ahead of Len Bias's (1983-86) career total of 745.

  • Sophomore Chris Wilcox registered career-highs in scoring and rebounding with 16 points and 10 boards, respectively. It marked the first double-double of his career. His point total eclipses his former career high of 13 points vs. Florida State on Feb. 14 of last season and his caroms bests his previous high of nine, vs. Temple on Nov. 9 of this season.

  • With 13 points against Delaware State, senior Juan Dixon passed Earnest Graham (1978-81) to move into 10th on Maryland's all-time scoring chart. Dixon's new career total of 1,615 points surpassed Graham's 1,607.

  • Dixon's two steals on the day move him into eighth all-time in ACC history with a new career total of 250. He passed UNC's Derrick Phelps, who amassed 247 thefts from 1991-94. Dixon needs only two steals to tie Maryland's Laron Profit for seventh on the all-time list, and will move into the top 5 with nine more thefts.

  • Junior Steve Blake's five assists on the day move him into fourth all-time among Maryland leaders with 487 to date. Blake flip-flops with Duane Simpkins (now fifth) on the assists chart, who dished out 483 helpers from 1993-96.
