Next: Maryland hosts Norfolk State on Jan. 3 (8 p.m., Comcast SportsNet).
Storyline: Maryland can run its nation's longest non-conference homecourt win streak to 84 games by defeating the Spartans. What's more, Maryland will close Cole Field House's non-conference schedule without having lost to a non-league opponent in the building's final 12 seasons.
Dixon:With a game-high 21 points at NC State the 31st 20-point game of his career, Dixon's late clutch shooting helped push Maryland to a hotly-contest road win at NC State last Sunday. Dixon finished 12-of-14 at the free throw line, hitting eight in the final minute to ice the contest, after his own baseline jumper gave Maryland a 62-56 cushion. Dixon also contributed four steals in the win to move past Mugsy Bogues and into third place on the ACC's all-time list for career steals. Dixon leads Maryland with 18.1 points per game and 3.1 steals. He is second on the club with 2.9 assists.
Baxter:Lonny Baxter carries a 14.3 scoring average and an 8.9 rebounding clip into Thursday's non-conference tilt, hoping to guide the Terps to their 84th consecutive non-league homecourt victory. Baxter, with 27 career double-doubles to his credit, notched 11 points and eight rebounds in a hard-fought, physical road win at NC State last Sunday. The senior is one of the country's most agile and most bullish big men, and can be found among ACC leaders in points, rebounds, field goal percentage and blocked shots. He is just four points shy of becoming the 14th Maryland player ever to accumulate 1,500 career points.
