WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Lonny Baxter's farewell to the BB&T Classic was considerably more memorable than his debut.
The Terps' senior center was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player as he followed a 19-point, 12-rebound performance against Princeton in the semifinals with 24 and 10 in last night's championship-game win over Connecticut.
He shot 8-for-10 from both the field and the free-throw line, blocked a shot and logged 38 minutes to show how far he has progressed since he arrived at Maryland out of Hargrave (Va.) Military Academy in 1998.
