- Maryland came away with its third consecutive win in today's 68 -60 victory over No. 16 (AP) Oklahoma. The Terrapins moved to 18-9 on the season and now lead the all-time series with the Sooners, 2-1.
- Today's win extended the nation's longest non-conference home-court winning streak for the Terps as they have now won 77 straight. The Sooners are the highest-ranked team to ever challenge the Terrapins' streak, a run that is now 11 years old (last non-conference home loss was to Coppin State on December 12, 1989).
- Maryland got off to a good start defensively against the Sooners, holding them to just two points in the first 9:43 of the ballgame. In fact, Oklahoma went scoreless for a full 8:41 as they struggled from 18:58 to 10:17 in the first half.
- Though the two teams had the same number of rebounds (33), the Terrapins got the job done inside against Oklahoma as they outscored the Sooners in the paint, 32-18.
- It was a tale of two halves for both the Terps and guard Juan Dixon. Maryland shot 36 percent in the first half (11-of-31) as a team and was 0-6 from three-point land. Dixon was scoreless at the half (0-3). In the second half, the Terps shot a robust 57 percent (12-of-21) and did so behind a red-hot Dixon.
- Dixon finished the game with 23 points and all 23 came in the second half. At the half, the junior was the lone Maryland player to change from his new Nike shoes (the ones the rest of the team was wearing) back to his old pair. The result was a 7-for-11 second-half effort (4-for-5 from 3 pt. range) and a huge boost to the Terps.
- Dixon's 23 points were the most in a half by a Maryland player this season. The previous high was 19 by Byron Mouton in the first half at Penn. The previous best in the second half was 17 by Lonny Baxter versus Norfolk State.
- In the second half, Dixon accounted for 56 percent of Maryland's scoring (23 of 41 points).
- Dixon's fourth three-pointer of the night moved him into a tie for fifth on the all-time Maryland list. The junior now has 130, a total that ties him with Duane Simpkins (1993-96). Dixon also moved into 17th on the Terps career scoring chart with 1,368th point, surpassing Tony Massenburg (1986/88-90).
- With five assists tonight, point guard Steve Blake now has 400 in his young career.
- Chris Wilcox had another strong outing, pacing all bench scorers with eight points on 3-of-3 shooting. He also added three rebounds (two offensive) in his 11 minutes of work.
