Before departing for its charter flight at Baltimore-Washington International Airport and the Final Four, the University of Maryland basketball team was bid a grand farewell at Cole Field House.
Approximately 7,300 screaming fans came out to see Gary Williams and his Terrapins as they prepared to leave for Minneapolis, Minnesota. The group -- which filled half the bowl of the arena -- was treated to a gymnastics exhibition, the Maryland cheerleaders and music by the University of Maryland Band before Williams and his troops came out to bid adieu.
Williams and his three seniors -- LaRon Cephas, Mike Mardesich and Terence Morris -- addressed the crowd, thanking them for their support. Williams said it has been a great week and the whole experience has been amazing, but added that the Terps will not rest on their accomplishments.
"We are not happy just getting to the Final Four," Williams said. "we want to win a championship."
