Terps Conduct Public Scrimmage At Comcast

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - University of Maryland's men's basketball team conducted an intrasquad scrimmage at Comcast Center on Wednesday night, playing two regulation halves before a crowd of near-1,500 fans who watched the new-look Terrapins free of admission.

The Red-Black scrimmage saw participation from all 13 members of the Terrapin roster, with teams changing at halftime.

Senior point guard Steve Blake shot 10-of-15 from the field, including six 3-pointers, to finish with a game-high 26 points. Senior forward Tahj Holden was 8-of-14 from the field and 8-of-9 at the foul stripe to finish with 24. Senior guard Drew Nicholas also eclipsed 20 points, shooting 9-of-15 for 21 points.

Over the course of the scrimmage, seniors led the Terps in both the scoring and rebounding columns, with sophomore Andre Collins leading all players with 10 assists. Collins also added 13 points as one of nine players to reach double figures in the game. Sophomore Mike Grinnon, shot 3-of-5 from beyond the arc to join the double-figure scorers with 13.

Senior Ryan Randle led all rebounders with 13, followed by Holden with 12. Holden also had four blocked shots.

Noteworthy numbers for Maryland newcomers included 14 points and nine rebounds by local freshman product Travis Garrison. Freshman Nik Caner-Medley tallied 12 points and eight boards.
