  • With the 64-49 victory, Maryland posted a win in the inaugural contest in Comcast Center, just as it did in 1955 when the Terps earned a 67-55 victory over Virginia in the opening game at Cole Field House. The Terps have now won their last 26 home openers, dating back to the 1977-78 season. Maryland's last home-opening loss came at the hands of Notre Dame, which outlasted the Terps for a 80-79 overtime victory on Nov. 27, 1976 at Cole Field House.

  • The first points scored in a men's basketball game at Comcast Center were netted by senior forward Ryan Randle at 18:39 in the first half. It was a turnaround jumper in the lane after a pass from senior Steve Blake.

  • Sunday's announced crowd of 17,950 set a new Maryland basketball attendance record. The Terps' previous all-time largest crowd of 15,287 witnessed a 79-77 overtime victory over No. 3 North Carolina on Feb. 16, 1972.

  • Miami's 49 points were the fewest allowed by a Terp team in a home opener since Western Carolina scored 46 on Nov. 14, 1998.

  • Maryland extended it's nationally top-ranked non-conference home court win streak to 85 games and 13 years. The streak began against Alcorn State on Dec. 30, 1989 at Cole Field House and has now officially made the move with the Terps to Comcast Center.

  • Overall, the Terrapins have won their last 19 home games, including posting a 15-0 victory streak in 2001-02.

  • With the win, the Terps have tied their second-winningest stretch in history. The Terps have won 25 of their last 27 games since Dec. 27, 2001, matching a 25 of 27 stretch from Jan. 13, 1971 to Jan. 9, 1973. Maryland's best-ever span was a 26 of 28 run from Nov. 9, 2001 to March 8, 2002, which includes part of last season's 13-game win streak.

  • The Terrapins now own a 4-1 series advantage over Miami (Ohio), taking the first meeting since a 69-68 Terp victory in the 1985 NCAA Tournament's first round.

  • With nine points and eight assists, including the first-ever helper by a men's basketball player at Comcast Center, senior All-America candidate Steve Blake moved past North Carolina's Phil Ford (753) on the NCAA career assists chart. Blake, the nation's active career assists leader, needs only 22 assists to reach 781 and break into the all-time top 25.

  • Senior Ryan Randle, making his first official start, eclipsed his career high with 15 points, while also adding five rebounds and blocking one shot. Randle's previous career-high was 12 points vs. Norfolk State on Jan. 3 of last season.

  • With 13:31 to play in the first half, freshman forward Travis Garrison became the first Terp newcomer to score in the young 2002-03 season. Garrison led all Terp rookies with eight points, and paced all the Terps with six rebounds.
