Own A Piece Of Cole!

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
The University of Maryland and former Terrapin player and assistant basketball coach Joe Harrington have united to form the Cole Field House memorabilia project. This project will give fans a chance to own a piece of the historic building's history through the purchases of genuine Cole hardwood.
A special web site - www.colefieldhouse.com - has been set up for fans interested in online purchases of sections or plaques commemorating the 47-year-old building, which has been home to Maryland basketball since 1955. In addition, fans can submit online orders for special signature plaques from men's head coach Gary Williams and women's head coach Chris Weller.
"The plaques are dynamic," commented Maryland Director of Athletics Deborah A. Yow. "They are such an appropriate way to honor our tradition of excellence."
Said Harrington, "I don't think there is a better way for Terrapin fans and alums to celebrate and remember this great arena than to own a piece of the original floor. As an alum, ex-Terp player and former assistant coach, I am extremely proud to be directing this memorabilia project."
The web site offers several different types of memorabilia including a 2001 Final Four plaque, which features a piece of Cole's hardwood along with a team photograph of last season's men's basketball team.
Harrington coached for 10 years at Maryland under Charles "Lefty" Driesell. He was also a Terrapin teammate of Williams from 1963-67, both he and Williams helped coach the Maryland freshman team from 1967-68.

Next fall, the new 17,100-seat Comcast Center will open on the north perimeter of campus.
