Maryland Tennis Notches Third Straight Win

Washington, DC - The women's tennis team defeated George Washington, 7-0, to improve their record to 5-2 on the spring season. The Colonels fall to 3-5, their second straight loss of the week at the Mount Vernon Athletic Complex.
The undefeated doubles team of Delila Causevic (Silver Spring, Md.) and Emily Marker (Ann, Arbor, Mich.) downed Lindy First and Tracy Wei, 8-1. The No. 2 doubles team of Marta Jedrzejak (Sieradz, Poland) and Emily DeCamilla (Sacramento, Calif.) defeated Nazli Gencsoy and Katarina Stastny, 8-5. Senior Pamela Floro and sophomore Chloe Chavardes also won by the score of 8-1.
All six Terrapins notched straight set wins in singles play. At the No. 1 position, Causevic eliminated First, 6-0, 6-0. Both Marker and Chavardes won by the score of 6-4, 6-1, over Gencsoy and Stastny, respectively. Floro defeated Wei, 6-2, 6-3 and Jedrzejak won over Natasha Bode, 6-0, 6-1. Freshman DeCamilla remains flawless in singles competition improving her record to 7-0 with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Samantha Fisher.
Maryland takes on the University of Pennsylvania at 2:30 p.m. on Mar. 1 at the Tennis Center at College Park.
