Maryland to Hold On-Campus Screening for the Final Four

March 25, 2002

College Park, Md - As the Maryland men's basketball team makes its second-consecutive Final Four appearance, the University of Maryland community can again gather at historic Cole Field House to cheer on the Terps, according to Deborah A. Yow, Director of Athletics.

Said Yow, "We want to do everything possible to share this experience with our fans in thanks for their loyal support." The Office of Student Affairs has made a sizable financial contribution to make this possible.

Members of the campus community unable to make the trip to Atlanta can gather at Cole Field House on Saturday, March 30th, to view the Maryland-Kansas meeting on a jumbo TV screen. Doors in the main lobby of Cole will open at 5:00 p.m., one hour prior to the Indiana-Oklahoma tip-off. Admission is free and is open only to students, faculty, and staff with a valid UMCP ID, and to Terrapin Club members and Alumni Association members with a valid membership card.

Should the Terrapins advance to the national championship game, a similar screening will occur on Monday, April 1st at 9:00 p.m., with doors in the main lobby of Cole opening at 8:00 p.m. Concession stands will be open both evenings.

TEAM SENDOFF

The men's basketball team is scheduled to depart for Atlanta on Wednesday, March 27th, at approximately 3:00 p.m. Fans are welcome to gather outside at the rear of Cole Field House to send the team off to Atlanta. Wednesday's team practice will be closed to the public and media.
