COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Gary Williams TV Show will air its final episode on Saturday, April 20 at 11:00 a.m. ET, on Comcast SportsNet, with "Voice of the Terps" Johnny Holliday hosting the hour-long special.
Williams, who guided the Maryland Terrapins to the 2002 NCAA men's basketball championship on April 1 with a 64-52 win over Indiana, spends the hour with Holliday taking a look back at the season, the road to the Final Four, and victories over Kansas and IU. During the course of the 2002 season in which Williams was named the ACC Coach of the Year, Maryland won its first outright ACC regular season title since 1980, finished the season 32-4 overall and 15-0 at Cole Field House. The Terrapins ended the year with the first national crown in school history, and the first No. 1 ranking in school history.
Included on the show are plays of the year and postseason interviews with Terrapin players. The show aired weekly from January through the first week of March. It began with an annual holiday special in December and ends with a 60-minute recap of a national championship season.
