Recap| Box Score| Quotes

  • The Maryland basketball team (No. 10 AP, No. 9 USA Today/ESPN) recorded a 75-60 victory, defeating NC State for the 14th straight time at home during the Gary Williams era. The Terps move to 13-4 on the season with a 6-1 league record, remain the top team in the ACC nearly halfway through the conference portion of the regular season.

  • The Terps' earned their fourth straight ACC victory overall and their 14th consecutive regular season ACC victory at home, having not fallen in College Park since a Feb. 14, 2001, loss to Florida State. Maryland has won 25 of its last 27 ACC regular season games over the last three years.

  • Maryland coach Gary Williams logged the 494th win of his career, and is now just six wins from 500. He is the 20th-leading active coach in America in terms of victories, and is 119-91 against ACC opponents since taking the Terps' reins prior to the 1989-90 season - good enough for sixth all-time.

  • Williams needs only four conference victories to move into fifth place and pass former Terrapin head coach Lefty Driesell (122 ACC wins), who was honored at Comcast Center on Thursday night.

  • Senior All-America candidate Steve Blake scored 10 of his 20 points in the first half, and is currently vying to become Maryland's 40th 1,000 point scorer. He needs only 19 to reach 1,000, and he needs 134 assists to become the Terps' first 1,000 point/1,000 assist man in history. Blake was 7-for-10 from the floor and 4-for-4 from beyond the arc to finish in double-figures for the ninth time this season.

  • Led by Blake's 4-for-4 effort from 3-point range, the Terps finished the game 8-for-11 (.727) - the highest 3-point percentage for a Maryland team since March 19, 1994 vs. UMass, when the Terps made 8 of 10 (.800). Blake finished the contest one 3-pointer away from his single game high of five, set on Dec. 8 vs. George Washington.

  • The Terrapins outrebounded NC State by a 32-23 margin. The Terrapins are second in the ACC as a team in rebounding, and are 12-2 on the year when outrebounding their opponents.

  • Senior guard Drew Nicholas scored his first three points of the game with 14:20 to play in the second half, but helped pick the Terps up with 13 total points. He hit two straight 3-pointers near the 11-minute mark to help spark a Terp run that gave Maryland the lead for good. Nicholas has scored in double-figures in 16 games - all but one this season.

  • Senior Tahj Holden was 2-for-4 from the floor and 8-of-11 from the line, finishing the game with 13 points. He added four rebounds and helped the Terps to a 32-23 advantage in that category.

  • Led by junior Jamar Smith's six points, Maryland's reserves outscored the Wolfpack reserves by a 17-9 margin. Smith also added 10 rebounds in his role off the bench, leading the Terps in caroms for the fourth game this season.

  • Freshman Nik Caner-Medley had a fine all-around outing for the Terrapins, scoring nine points with three rebounds, three assists and a career-high five steals.
