Maryland Announces National Champions Commemorative Artwork

Jan. 7, 2003

College Park, Md. - Maryland Athletics is proud to announce the release of National Champions, original artwork that commemorates the Terps' 2001-02 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship.

George Wright, the premier facial reproduction artist of American sports heroes, created the original oil painting National Champions, which depicts the players in action and the entire coaching staff. "George has captured the memories of the players and the coaches during our incredible journey to the NCAA Championship," said Head Coach Gary Williams.

Terp fans may now purchase the full-color, open edition Lithographs ($20.00) and Limited Edition Artist Proofs ($150.00) exclusively through the Terrapin Team Shop in the Comcast Center, the Official Team Store of Maryland Athletics.

The 274 Limited Edition Artist Proofs are individually numbered and signed by Coach Williams and George Wright in recognition of Coach Williams' 274 career victories at Maryland leading up to the NCAA Title.

Maryland Athletics has partnered with Rookie League Sports International to make this special offer available to Terp fans. The Rookie League is a non-profit, coed, children's sports program located in Salisbury, Maryland, founded by former Terp football and baseball star and University of Maryland Athletic Hall of Fame member Tom Brown. A portion of the proceeds from the commemorative offerings will benefit the men's basketball program and Rookie League Sports International.
